It may cost $15 on top of what you already paid for your pants, but getting your pants hemmed to the right length when you purchase them is worth the time, effort and dosh.
If they are too long and you are tempted to just wear them anway you will end up with frayed tatty edges on the hems, not a good look.
An ugly and common mistake is pants that are hemmed too short. Unless the hem is long enough so that they can be lengthened don't buy them! Pants need to cover the front of your foot, or they will look half mast and your feet will make too much of a statement.
When you are buying your favourite white palazzos for this summer, keep in mind that you will need one pair for wearing with flats and another pair for wearing with heels, so make this decision when you are buying and get them hemmed correctly at the start, in the long run probably saving you money.
