Summer Style: Looking fabulous is all in the fit. Here's some real fit for thought.

12 March 2008

I was at a fashion trade fair last weekend with 'the girls'...such fun! I'm thrilled to report that next summer is looking great and we'll be bringing you a fabulous range of kaftans and summerwear to really help you shine.

One thing that stood out for me though, was the ever-present 'no idea' factor that sadly so many manufacturers/suppliers seem to possess. You can imagine how overwhelmed with emotion I was when I actually found someone who did!

This clever woman actually understood the fabulous female form, with it's lumps and bumps, bits and bobs and designed a range that will help to create a great fit for most women. Having been a 'fit model' (aka the human manequin) for years, has seen it all, worn it all and told them all what works, what doesn't and what brings out the best in we women.

Possessing a great sense of style and eye for colour completes Louise's package. And yes...we will certainly be bringing you her fabulous range next summer so watch this website!

Now it's fair to say that you will never find a garment that will look great on everyone. But, I do think there are a few classic cuts that work for many to help create a wondrous fit. Comfy?...Excited?...here they are:

Tops:

TRAP: the neckline alone won't save you. You MUST wear the right supportive bra or swimwear under at all times to absolutely look your best. Don't come whining to me when it all falls flat (so to speak) because I'll be checking under before I bother with on top!

Pants:

Golden rule with pants is to skim not cling...I don't care how gorgeous you think you are!

Skirts:

Dress:

Shorts:

For me, the toughest item in a summer wardrobe, even scarier than swimwear!

For this one, I'm truly stumped...yep, literally. I have quads of steel (years of playing squash darlings) and legs that shall we say, are vertically challenged. So for me and just above the knee works to cover them over but not too long for fear of making my legs seem shorter.

If I had to choose one it would be:

My final word on shorts is that 'floppy' is not necessarily flattering, go for a more tailored look. Floppy is fine when you are hanging out the washing or going for a jog but really, the stylish option is tailored.

Think I've covered most bases and am now exhausted!
Enjoy flurting with your fit.
Until next time.
