Summer Insights & Inspirations: 2011-12 is about Colour, Sheen, Drape & Kaftans!

When I seek a shot of inspiration, I turn to Net-A-Porter.com and Neiman Marcus. Actually, it's probably not a shot of inspiration that drives me to click and sit for just a bit, it's actually pure escapism.
They show me what is out there, in a world that is just not mine, in a way that is so visually rich I adore the ride.
What made my heart skip a beat was that the shape of things to come is fabulous for women 35+, with bothersome bellies, tricky hips and cellulite legs. Sure, they use models that are far from what ours look like, but brush that aside and focus on the wares.
Gorgeous drapes and floaty silhouettes. Draping is woman's best friend. It hides our flaws and the bits that puncture our confidence. Gorgeous falls and looser fits...there is hope girls, there is hope!
The colours are perfect in soften pastels (the icecream colours are still around) and bolder brights. But even the bright have been tamed with a dash of white. As for white, well, it's back with great force. Crisp, cool and forever summer.
Length...the longer the better it seems, again, great news for us girls!
Pants!...we all love to wear them in our households and they are front and centre this summer. Not so sure about the draped hips and narrow legs though. I don't want my hips looking any larger thanks very much so it will be good old wider leg, falling straight down from the hip palazzos for me.
The '70s!...yippeee...boho luxe, boho basics, kaftans, tunics, prints and trims...relaxed and free!
