How to Hide Those Winter Wobbly Bits with The Right Kaftan Prints

Anita McLachlan - 5th June 2013

You don't have to workout around the clock to get in shape for your short winter-sun break. The right printed kaftans and summer clothes will cleverly mask what lies beneath. Here are 4 simple tips to help you find the right prints. Prints that will have you looking and feeling fab on your quick trip away; no fuss, no bother.

Winter is about snuggling under, staying in and eating soul soothing comfort food. Feels great but doesn't always do wonders for the waistline and those wobbly bits we all have.

With little time to spare (after all this is a quick trip) getting organised is challenging enough, let alone squeezing in extra workouts at the gym to get rid of those winter wobbly bits.

Prints Charming will save the day and your winter sun suitcase. Printed kaftans and dresses are the heroes of a great summer wardrobe and the ultimate masters of disguise. If you're not a fan or have had a few false starts, these tips will hopefully encourage you to give them another go.

Prints work wonders over wobbly bits. Put simply, eye's don't know where to stop and focus, they just take it all in. Beautiful!

So how do you find the prints that are right for you?

1. Make a start and explore prints that you're naturally drawn to. Prints are an expression of personality and mood. If you love the liveliness of 'hello there' brights, then start with those. If you'd rather make a more subtle statement, then go for softer hues or classic neutrals. It really doesn't matter, as long as you make a start.

Then Delve into Detail...Just Dip, Nothing Scary

It's important that the colours in the print make you shine and that the size of the print works for your body shape and size.

2. Colour: Not every colour in the print has to be perfect for you but it's best if at least a few do. Anything that sits close to your gorgeous face needs special attention. Find colours that make your eyes 'pop' and your face glow.

Avoid high contrasts if you have a softer, older complexion and your hair colour is similar to that of your skin. Look for prints that have colours from the same family in different tints and shades. If your complexion is bright and clear and your hair colour quite different to your skin tone, then you'll pull off contrasts and energetic combinations no problem at all.

Bonus Tip: Pick a colour from your printed kaftan and match it with your shoes, bathers, arm candy, clutch or beach bag...even your lippie, for sizzling summer looks. Not too 'matchie-moo' just one thing will do.

3. Shape: If you have a fuller, rounded shape like Chrissie Swan, then look for rounded prints with soft edges. If you are more 'chiseled' like Princess Kate, then geometrics and more structured prints will work best. That's not to say that you shouldn't look past anything you love, just something to keep it in mind, that's all.

4. Size:
Fuller figures and taller girls can generally get away with a bigger print. Not too over the top if you're a bigger girl as that can tend to look frumpy. The shorter and smaller girls should stick to smaller sized prints so they don' t over-whelm.

Prints are fabulous. Not only are they the masters of disguise, they can lift you up and get you in holiday mode instantly.

Your winter sun break is too short and far too precious to feel any other way.
Enjoy.
