Tankini's are tops. There is no doubt about that. Each year this swimsuit option grows in popularity here at Sequins and Sand and for plus sizes too.. Find the style that works best for you and feel more confident this summer.
So what makes the Tankini two piece so popular?
- Fit - To get a better fit top and bottom. You might be a 14 top and a 20 bottom. Or an 18F top a 14 bottom. No one piece is ever going to fit well with more than 2 size differences top and bottom unless it's altered.
- Convenience - for a quick and easy 'bathroom' break
- Mix n' Match - make more looks by mixing prints and plains
- Beyond the Bikini - "I used to wear a bikini and I feel those days are gone." Tankini tops offer more tummy coverage but they are still a 2 piece.
THE Tankini that's Best for you.
The variety of styles available now has come a long way. And once you find it, odds on you can keep on wearing it year after year because swimwear labels will repeat the styles that sell well. They just change the print or the colours.
Here are our Best Selling Styles for different Shapes. We tend to focus on Boobs, Bellies and Hips as they are the 'problem' areas our customers talk to us about.
Big Boobs?
If you have a fuller bust and your tummy is a less of a 'concern' for you then this is your style! Same if you have narrower hips.
The Underwire Ruched style is our #1 seller for you. Look for the gathered cups. They are your friend. The gathers expand to accommodate your fuller bust and the features help to give you the support you need - high back, high under the arms, wider straps, fully adjustable straps (that can be crosses over) + underwire.
Comes in D/E and F/G cups and in quite a few prints and plains that mix 'n match so brilliantly together in the Capriosca Range.
- Plains - Plum, Black D/E, Black F/G, Navy D/E, Navy F/G.
- Prints - Bohemian Sunset, Vintage Paisley
Big Bust and Big Belly?
Raphael Tankini style from Artesands is what I'd choose for you. A new label for us, the Raphael offers great coverage for a fuller bust and sturdy support with a hidden 'bra' under - D-G cup. With panelled sides and ruched front, this is a great style for a fuller bust and tummy shape. Support all over. In the Black and White Dots print.
The Underwire Tankini style from Capriosca now comes in F/G cup options. This A line style doesn't have the ruching or panelling for tummy support. Instead, it offers a gently 'skim not cling' option.
- The very popular Wild Berries print
- Navy and White Dots for a Chlorine Resistant option too.
Smaller Bust to Hips? or want to bring the attention up? Then a Triangle cup with an Empire line is what you need in your stash.
- The Side Ruched Tankini top in Raj - We love that this style is back again from Capriosca swimwear. It's a great style for Pear shapes with smaller boobs and wider thighs. C-E cup.
- The Delacroix Style from Artesands - similar to the Raj above, this style will extend up to a G cup for those who want to bring the attention up and away from their hips.
Big Belly?
If your belly is your main 'concern' then the #1 seller is the 3 Tier style. This is such a versatile style in the bust department too, offering support for a D-E cup, possibly an F. Comes in heaps of options:
- Plains - Black, Rust
- Prints - Black Blossom, Navy and White Dots, Night Blossom, Embroidered Roses
Big Belly + Smaller Bust? then the new Botticelli style from Artesands is a great style for you. It has a firmer fit about the belly but with the ruching and C-DD cup.
The Ink and Water print does a similar thing but with a neckline that goes straight across and in a Chlorine Resistant fabric too. So if you know that's a neckline that works best for your shape, that's the alternative for you. C-DD possibly an E cup.
Growing in popularity each season is the Flouncy style. Not as supportive but is a great tummy coverage option. It's popular because it can be worn as a top with shorts, skirts or pants too, especially in the new Raj print. It also comes in textured Black.
Hourglass? the Tankini world is your oyster. Take your Tankini pick from any of the styles above. The only tip I'd give you, is go for a style that isn't going to offer too much fuss about your middle (like the 3 Tier style). You don't need that.
Once you've found your top, then you need a bottom! In a print or a plain or both! So you can create loads of looks with ease.
Speaking of easy. We make it easy to get the swimsuit help you need with our Virtual Fitting and Find Your Fit services. Backed up with our no fuss, Free Returns. Remember, all purchased over $100 get Free Express postage too!
Well that's Tankini's done girls.
