Anita McLachlan - 3rd March 2019

It's March already! And that means Melanoma month here at Sequins and Sand. For the last 3 years we have donated and raised funds for vital Melanoma research and cure. This year we are fund raising with Love, Emma Care Packs - for life's harderst moments.

It's March already! And that means Melanoma month here at Sequins and Sand. For the last 3 years we have donated and raised funds for vital Melanoma research and cure.

This year we are fund raising with Love, Emma Care Packs - for life's hardest moments.

Some of you will know of our connection with Emma from Dear Melanoma. She wrote for us on the Blog about Sun Safety and Melanoma awareness and we loved her very much. Emma sadly passed away in April of 2017. One of her legacies was Love, Emma care packages, for loved ones doing it tough, in and out of hospital.

Well Emma's beautiful Mum Tamra, continues what Emma started at Love, Emma where 100% of profits go to the Melanoma Institute of Australia for research and finding cures for this shitty bloody disease. Did you know that Melanoma kills one Australian every 5 hours? Here are more sobering statistics from the Melanoma Institute.

After chatting with Tamra last year, we decided the best way we could help would be to promote Love, Emma care packages on the Sequins and Sand online store.
There are 5 gorgeous, thoughtfully created gift packs in total, each featured below and in the Give section of Sequins and Sand.

BUT, you don't buy them at S&S, we are showcasing them so that you know they are available. On each Care Package page, there is a link to the Love, Emma online store where you can buy them. It just makes it easier for Tamra and us to manage the orders and keep things simple this way. I hope you understand :)

Of course, if you have any questions, you can contact us here at S&S. We'd love to help. These care packages are beautiful and thoughtfully put together by Emma who knew first hand, how difficult it was for loved ones to find the words in such hard times. We hope that they help you express your love and shine a little happiness on those who receive them.

Melanoma:
In many cases, Melanoma is avoidable if the right Sun Safety guidelines are followed. Emma worked so hard to spread the awareness of the dangers and how to stay sun safe. Here is an article she wrote for us, in 2015 Summer Survival Kit - the Sun Safe Way. As relevant today as it was the day it was written.

Sun Safe swimwear has come a long way in the last few years and it's no longer daggy! And whilst there are varying degrees of coverage on offer, we take the view that even a little extra coverage is better than not much at all, if that's what get's you more sun safe. Long sleeve rashies and one piece swimsuits as well as short sleeve and no sleeve but with higher neck coverage are all on offer here in the Sun Safe section of Sequins and Sand.

We are also working with a couple of other boutique Australian labels dedicated to stylish Sun Safety and look forward to bringing them to you later this month - our Melanoma March month.

If you'd like to make your own donation to the fight against Melanoma, head on over Jay's Longest Melanoma March 2019 page. This time he's walking a mammoth 2000kms over 50 days from Adelaide to Sydney to raise money for a clinical trial. You can even join him on a leg if you like! The walk kicks off on 31st March at Henley Square in Adelaide, then via Melbourne, Canberra, Wollongong and finishes 2,000kms, 50 days later on the 19th May in Sydney. All money raised will go to the Melanoma Institute where Jay is part of their team. He's bloody amazing.

Thanks girls. We hope you will consider Love, Emma care packages when reaching out to say "I'm thinking of you" to those you love, doing it tough. Let's help end deaths from Melanoma too.
